Causes of Heel Pain

  • Plantar fascitis- is an inflammation of the band of tissue (the plantar fascia) that extends from the heel to the toes. In this condition, the fascia first becomes irritated and then inflamed-resulting in heel pain.

Risk factors for plantar fascitis include:

    • Overweight and obesity

    • Diabetes

    • Spending most of the day on your feet

    • Becoming very active in a short period of time

    • Flat-feet or having a high arch

  • Heel spur

  • Stress fracture

  • Tendonitis

  • Nerve irritation

  • Heel Pain in children : Kids involved in active sports where there is a lot of jumping ,especially in the age group of 8-14 years. This may cause inflammation of the growth centre of the heel bone.
