Causes of Heel Pain

Plantar fascitis- is an inflammation of the band of tissue (the plantar fascia) that extends from the heel to the toes. In this condition, the fascia first becomes irritated and then inflamed-resulting in heel pain.
Risk factors for plantar fascitis include:

Overweight and obesity
- Diabetes
- Spending most of the day on your feet
- Becoming very active in a short period of time
- Flat-feet or having a high arch
- Heel spur
- Stress fracture
- Tendonitis
- Nerve irritation
- Heel Pain in children : Kids involved in active sports where there is a lot of jumping ,especially in the age group of 8-14 years. This may cause inflammation of the growth centre of the heel bone.
